An Unique New Year Resolution – Help Ourselves & …….

We should never fail to utilize the help (gifts) which Gho Matha showers on us with utmost compassion. We are making a mistake of abandoning her gifts or misuse them and ultimately deny the protection she deserves. Nurturing should be mutual between mankind and cows according to the words of Lord Shri Krishna in Bhagavat Gita “Parasparam Bhaavayantha“. The cows gift us abundantly for the meager nourishment we provide them.  We should not be ungrateful to the cows after their yielding phase ends. We have to protect them till their life time. The ghoshalas and pinjarapoles which are scarce now should increase in great numbers for protecting both yielding and unyielding cows. People should come forward to donate money liberally for this cause and offer physical effort with utmost concern since anything spent on this comes back as Punnya. – Pujyasri Kanchi Maha Periyava
Jaya Jaya Sankara Hara Hara Sankara – On this English New Year eve, I want to bring to your attention a unique and innovative way where we can support Gho Mathas. As Sri Periyava laments in the quote above, the compassion of Mother Cow has been immense that she has so much to offer that we fail to utilize or even worse, notice them.
First up, a bit of background. Most of the Gosalas try to leverage support out of donations. There is nothing wrong with that and as Periyava says anything we do for Mother Cow is not really enough. However, pragmatically speaking, it is a challenging model to sustain month after month, year after year. How often we have seen  donations support wane after a period of time, the Gosalas runs into crisis and raises desperate SOS (Save our Souls) requests over and over again?
This was the challenge faced by Sri Gokula Krishna Gosala, Devandavakkam Village near Thiruvallur as well. This is the Gosala we are supporting for the past few months and this is where some of the cows we rescued this year are residing. Due to volatile fodder, labor, and water supply they decided to standup on their own to the best they can. The result, with help of organic farming experts they started manufacturing several high quality native breed cow products. They are situated well outside the Chennai City and their exposure to marketing techniques are very limited.
This is where we Periyava devotees can and should help. We are seeing so many people around us suffering from so many ailments. Did we even think for a second what may be the reason? Let’s take a few minutes to introspect the various products we are using in our daily lives and see what it does to our health. Almost every product we use contain artificial ingredients and chemical toxins. In the long run, this is bound to affect our family/children’s health. These products have been marketed by corporate giants with only one thing in their mind; filling up coffers and hitting their sales targets.  We have seen in news and social media with ample evidences on how products like Carbonated drinks, Maggie, Sweeteners, Disinfectants, etc. adversely affects our health.
Very few are aware of the significance of our native breed mother cow and the healthy products she can give us. Mother Cow is much more than milk. Apart from her byproducts like buttermilk, curd, and cheese she also provides us organic and very healthy products like Pure ghee, Floor cleaner, Hair oil, Facial powder, Mosquito Coil, Massage Oil, Tooth powder, Soap, Bath powder, Dhoop sticks, Dish Washing powder, Gho Ark (cures diseases like Cancer, Cholestrol, Blood Pressure, improving health immunity, etc.). All these products are pure and natural with no chemical ingredients and immense health benefits. Mother Cow does not know to market her products like the corporate giants do nor does her products look as flashy. However the results can be seen when we start using it.
I have been using these quality products for several months and wanted to spread the word around. As a proof of concept, we in our housing community formed a small group and started buying the gho products. The response was very positive and overwhelming that around 15 families have started using these products regularly. The amount of orders we placed last month alone could feed two cows for a month….amazing isn’t it…? As Periyava says below “Parasparam Bhaavayantha” (helping each other) which is the way to go forward. We humans, are way more in numbers compared to cows so even if each of us buy a few products it is very easy for the gosala to become self-sufficient and sustain.
Apart from rescuing cows from slaughter and providing them with decent living conditions, this Gosala has gone above and beyond, have started manufacturing pure gho products despite all the challenges that life throws at them on a daily basis. Don’t we, as Periyava devotees, have a moral obligation and responsibility to give them a helping hand and ensure the Gosala becomes self-sufficient?
Let’s not confine Mother Cow to any religion. She gives milk and all of her products to the entire humanity without looking at our caste, creed, sex, and religion. As humans, with sixth sense, we should realize this and show her some gratitude for all she has been giving us for generations including our life time. Think about it, any gratitude we show her will not be enough. These products are not produced with margins in mind but with a noble intent to pay back and help feed Mother cow.
Please do not dismiss this post as a marketing flyer. All I’m asking is this. We are forwarding & sharing so many messages that are hardly worth a dime. Can we, for Periyava, please share this message to as many as you can? As mentioned before, the Gosala does not have much wherewithal to market these products so please consider taking a couple of seconds to press one of the buttons at the bottom of this post as that is the only way the way this message can reach the wider audience.
On this New Year eve, let’s start with the first step by helping her and in turn ourselves in the process. Thank you. Rama Rama
